Ageing the new timbers to look like 250 year old beams was a 3 stage process using a flap sander, wire wheel and my new favorite tool, a hatchet! I loved using the hatchet so much I went and bought some timberland boots and a lumberjack shirt, I thought about growing a beard to complete the "logger look" but as I'm not exactly the tallest bloke I decided i'd probably only hear countless jeers of "Hi Hoooh"😐 as off to work I did indeed go so I abandoned the whole beard plan. Anyway, this beautiful listed property in Essex needed a "new old wall". The property is semi detached and the lounge wall is the only wall that connects this house to the neighbors. The client wanted a soundproofing solution to eliminate noise transferring from next door. We decided that a new replica wall could be installed using 2" metal track & studs, ply lined, plaster boarded, aged beams and irregular lumpy bumpy rendering complete with acoustic soundproofing insulation,...sorted!
